On a Saturday night this fall, the bar at Jersey Prime Steakhouse on Main Street stays open until 11, and the lounge one floor away serves until midnight. That schedule comes from the Union Hotel's dining page on Marriott. For most of the past decade, the biggest building in downtown Flemington had nothing open at that hour. The hotel closed in 2015 and stayed shut until a ribbon-cutting on September 14, 2026. It officially reopened the next day, as TAPinto Flemington/Raritan reported.
Nearly every downtown event on the Flemington calendar between now and Thanksgiving ends by late afternoon, and the hotel's dining room and bars open at 4 and 5 p.m. That overlap shapes how the next six weeks downtown can be planned.
What's open, hour by hour
The hotel runs as a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property, managed by Concord Hospitality Enterprises. Local developer Jack Cust redeveloped it after winning borough approval in 2020. The hotel's Marriott page says "We are now Open!" and lists one restaurant and two bars on site. Here are the posted hours:
- Jersey Prime Steakhouse, breakfast: 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., every day
- Jersey Prime Steakhouse, dinner: 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with online booking and a phone line
- Jersey Prime bar: 4 to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday, with a bar menu daily from 4 to 5 p.m.
- JP's Lounge: closed Monday, 5 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday
The lounge has gone by three names so far. NJ.com's preview called it JP's Cocktail Parlour, the ribbon-cutting coverage called it JP's Speakeasy, and Marriott now lists it as JP's Lounge. All three names refer to the same room.
Fieldhouse Social, the sports bar and entertainment space, isn't on the schedule yet. In September, NJ.com said it "will open later this year." Until it opens, the hotel offers a sit-down dinner and a cocktail lounge, but no casual place to catch a game.
The hotel has about 100 rooms. NJ.com counted 100 including 10 suites and noted that the property is pet-friendly. TAPinto reported 105 rooms plus 20,000 square feet of retail and conference space. Hours at a new restaurant often shift in the first few months, so check the Marriott page the day you go.
Why the reopening landed in September
Parts of the Courthouse Square project were once expected to open much sooner. In October 2025, Cust told the borough council that portions of Courthouse Square "could be open Dec. 18." He also said a power hookup delay of 30 to 45 days had made that date "still fluid and up in the air," according to TAPinto's account of that meeting. At the time, he said his goal was to finish the exterior and take down the scaffolding before the holiday parade, "so that it really gives a nice impact to the town."
The hotel opened on September 15, 2026, about nine months after that December target for parts of the project. The timing matters for this season. The 2025 holiday parade went past a hotel that hadn't opened yet. The 2026 parade will be the first since the 2015 closing to pass the Union Hotel with its dining room open.
The building has deep roots in the county's business life. At the ribbon-cutting, Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce president Chris Phelan said the Chamber was founded in 1916 in the building that now houses Jersey Prime. Hotel general manager Michael Marino said the plans include working with local merchants. Downtown's own event calendar runs mostly on daytime hours.
The daytime calendar the hotel now bookends
Look at downtown Flemington's November schedule and almost everything ends before dark.
Sunday, November 1 has two events. The Hunterdon Community Farmers Market runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dvoor Farm, 111 Mine Street. The Flemington Fine Artisans Show runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stangl Factory, 50 Stangl Road. Jersey Prime opens for Sunday dinner at 4 p.m., the same hour the artisan show closes, so an afternoon at Stangl Factory can end with dinner on Main Street.
Through November 25, the Heritage and Cultural Center in the Historic Courthouse on Main Street is showing an exhibit of hooked rugs themed around the American Revolution. The exhibit opened October 7, according to the Hunterdon County calendar. The Courthouse and the hotel are both on Main Street, which makes this an easy afternoon visit before a reservation.
Ricochet Kids, a children's resale shop at 44 Main Street, was scheduled to hold its grand opening on Saturday, October 24, according to Love Flemington. It's one of the newer storefronts on the same few blocks.
Thanksgiving morning, November 26, the Annual Turkey Trot starts at 9:30 a.m. from Court Street Park, 43 Park Avenue. Runners choose a 5K or a two-mile course, the event window runs until 11 a.m., and proceeds benefit the Center for Educational Advancement, per the Love Flemington listing. Jersey Prime's posted breakfast service runs until 10:30 a.m. every day. Holiday hours at a new restaurant can differ, so call before counting on a post-race table.
December 5 is the first night both calendars overlap
The Hunterdon Holiday Parade steps off on Historic Main Street at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, and runs until 7 p.m. The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce hosts it, admission is free, and the listing promises marching bands, community floats and Santa.
This is the only December event on the downtown calendar so far. It's also the one event this season that runs entirely after dark. Since it falls on a Saturday, here's how the evening lines up with the hotel's posted weekend hours:
- 4 p.m.: Jersey Prime opens for dinner, and its bar starts serving.
- 5 p.m.: The parade starts on Main Street, and JP's Lounge opens.
- 7 p.m.: The parade wraps up.
- 10 p.m.: Jersey Prime's Saturday dinner service ends.
- 11 p.m.: The Jersey Prime bar closes.
- Midnight: JP's Lounge closes.
So once the floats clear Main Street, the hotel along the route keeps serving for another five hours. If dinner is part of the plan, reserve ahead through the "Book a Table" link on the Marriott dining page.
Thanksgiving weekend, when downtown takes a break
The days between the Turkey Trot and the parade have nothing on Flemington's downtown calendar. The nearest full schedule is in Clinton, where Red Mill Museum Village hosts its Festival of Trees and its Winter Village, which includes a vendor market and food and drink, Friday through Sunday, November 27 to 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
Clinton also has a newer place to eat. Village Mediterranean Grill opened at 12 Lower Center Street on August 28, 2026, in the space that used to be Grounded for Life, TAPinto reported.
The Winter Village closes at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On both nights, Jersey Prime serves dinner until 10 and JP's Lounge stays open until midnight back in Flemington.
